EASO Consultative Forum registration

Register for the EASO Consultative Forum meeting which is happening in Brussels on 11/12 December 2014. The meeting brings together civil society organisations, academics, members of the judiciary, EU institutions, EU agencies and Member States to look at the experience of the past year of working together, identify lessons learned and earmark areas of future cooperation. The meeting will take place on 11 and 12 December in Brussels. More information and details for applying are here.

Press releaseEASO and the European Agency for the Operational Management of Large-Scale IT Systems in the area of Freedom, Security and Justice (eu-LISA) have signed on 4 November a working arrangement to strengthen the cooperation between both agencies active in the area of Justice and Home Affairs.

Heads of JHA Agencies met at EASO

On 3 November, the TPS_2801Heads of the Justice and Home Affairs Agencies met at EASO’s premises to discuss how to coordinate their actions to better support the implementation of the EU’s priorities in the area of freedom, security and justice for the coming years.

EASO published new Quarterly Asylum Report

EASO published its quarterly asylum report for the second quarter of 2014. The Quarterly report aims at providing an overview of key asylum trends by analysing data regarding applications for international protection made by asylum seekers and decisions made on those applications by European Member States and Associated Countries.

EU Agencies issued report on joint actions to address Trafficking in Human Beings

On the occasion of the 8th Anti-Trafficking day (18 October), the European Police College (CEPOL), Europol, Eurojust, The European Union Agency for Fundamental Rights (FRA), the European Agency for the Management of Operational Cooperation at the External Borders of the Member States of the European Union (Frontex) and the European Asylum Support Office (EASO), have issued a report on their joint actions in the field of THB.

The report is annexed to the European Commission’s “Midterm report on the Implementation of the EU Strategy towards the eradication of Trafficking in Human Beings 2012-2016”.

The agencies have also issued a report on their individual actions developed from October 2012 to October 2014 to address THB.

Chechnya in Focus: EASO published a Country of Origin Information (COI) report on Chechnya

EASO published a Country of Origin Information (COI) Report entitled ‘Chechnya: Women, Marriage, Divorce and Child Custody’. The report gives an account of the situation of women in Chechnya and of how their situation has changed since Ramzan Kadyrov became President in 2007.

Somalia in Focus: EASO published a Country of Origin Information (COI) report on Somalia

EASO published a Country of Origin Information (COI) Report entitled ‘South and Central Somalia: Country Overview’. The report provides a comprehensive overview of facts relevant for the asylum application process of Somali nationals in several EU+ countries (EU Member States plus Norway and Switzerland).

EASO presented reports and latest asylum trends at the European Parliament

During a meeting of the European Parliament’s Committee on Civil Liberties, Justice and Home Affairs on 24 September 2014, EASO presented its Annual Activity Report for
2013, the Annual Report on the situation of asylum in the EU 2013, and the EASO multi-annual work programme 2014 – 2016 “Towards a coherent implementation of the Common European Asylum
System”. EASO also presented the latest asylum trends for 2014.
